My name is Alan Partis, and it's a pleasure to meet you.
For nearly 50 years I was a performing musician; for nearly 40 years I've been a software engineer; and for 20 years I've been a resident of Lexington. But, for most of my life, the dream has been to be a celebrity bartender. I'm still an engineer, but I've retired from music and spend more of my time exploring whiskey and other pleasures in life.
Lately, I've also been diving into AI to try to become an expert, whatever that means, and find creative ways to use it in service to others.
I like to say: I've been in business for myself on-and-off since Hillary Clinton was a stay-at-home-mom baking cookies.
Or, perhaps better: I've been in business for myself on-and-off since Al Gore claimed to have invented the Internet. In fact, I was once given the title of "Grandfather of the Internet"! I was ahead of the curve with a fledgeling Internet services business serving local businesses in the mid-90's. Perhaps if I wasn't so far ahead of the curve ... timing is indeed everything.
So what am I doing now? I've moved my performance ambition from the musical stage to my basement bar where I host a podcast focused on the people in our town and their stories. Through the sharing of stories I hope to bring our community closer together. Some people tell me they don't have any stories -- I'm confident that everyone has stories, often that are just waiting to be told.
I'm looking to promote people; to make us all more comfortable with each other.
My challenge to you: what can I do to put a little more spring in your step, a little more pep in your day, or even just bring a smile to your face?
My name is Alan Partis, and it's a pleasure to meet you.
